What is FitKey?

FitKey is an auto-renewing, monthly membership to gyms and fitness studios in South Africa. Currently, we cover Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Stellenbosch and Somerset West and are growing rapidly. For a low monthly fee, we offer thousands of classes in yoga, circuit training, Pilates, CrossFit, boxing, dance and much more. Members can make as many bookings as they want and up to three bookings per month at each studio.

What is the membership cancellation policy?

Email with the email address you use to login to your membership and ask to cancel. You must request to cancel your membership 3 days before the start of your next billing cycle in order to avoid auto-renewal for next month. Following any cancellation, however, you will continue to have access to FitKey through the end of your current cycle.

Can I pause my subscription?

If you need to take a break from FitKey, then you can place your subscription on hold for a minimal fee of R49.00 p/m. There is no limit to the amount of time you can remain on hold/pause, and no fee when you return to your membership. In order to place your subscription/account on hold, please email at least 3 days before the start of your next billing cycle in order to avoid auto-renewal for the next month.

How can I browse your classes?

You can browse all our classes for free on our website by creating an account and clicking the “Classes” link in the top navigation. You can also download the app for your phone and browse for free. Use these links to get the app: iOS and Android. Once you have the app, open it and click the browse button at the bottom of the first screen. You can see all the classes currently available for reservation, but you can only book a class once you pay for a monthly membership on this website. You can only sign up and subscribe on this website.

How do I signup/reserve a class?

To signup with FitKey, navigate to the FitKey homepage at, enter your email address and hit "Sign up". Then you can create your account and enter payment details in order to purchase your membership. Once you have a membership, you can book online or via the app, once signed in. You can then browse all the classes, click on the classes you like, and book a class you want to attend. You can only attend classes that you have booked. Studios will not honor your FitKey membership unless you have booked for the class via FitKey’s app or website.

How many classes do I get each month?

You can reserve up to three classes per studio per month. Total is depedant on the package you are on

How long is my membership cycle?

A FitKey membership cycle is one month in length, and will automatically renew on the same day each month. For example, if you buy your membership on August 3, your membership will renew on September 3. Your class allotment per studio (3 bookings) resets on the 1st day of your subscription. So if you become a member on August 15, you have your full allotment of bookings to use until September 15, and then the allotment renews. FitKey does NOT require an annual commitment.

How do I cancel a class?

Once you have reserved a class, you will find that class placed on the ‘Reserved’ Tab on the main screen of the app. Click the ‘Reserved’ Tab. Then click the class that you would like to cancel. At the bottom of the screen you will see a cancellation button. We ask that you cancel your class as soon as you know you can’t attend. If you have not cancelled and do not show up to a class, we reserve the right to charge you since we are liable to pay for the class. We really don’t want to do this, though.

What happens if I don’t attend a class I booked? Or need to cancel after the booking/cancellation window closes?

It’s important to remember that FitKey has a limited number of spaces per class, so if you’ve booked a space and don’t show up, you are likely taking a space from someone else. Additionally once the booking window closes FitKey is required to pay the studio for all bookings made. These two reasons are why we reserve the right to charge R120 per no show and R80 for a late cancellation.
